Those of you who love landscaping for Halloween and decorate your porches with jack-o'-lanterns may be interested in this news item....
Imagine a whole city undertaking the equivalent of decorating its porch for Halloween. And further imagine cities competing against each other to see who does the best job of such Halloween decorating. Well, that's precisely the tale told here. In a 10/04 story Boston.com provides the background. And on 10/25 we hear the end of the story, as Keene, NH retained its world record for lighted pumpkins. Incidentally, there's a reason it's not called a lighted jack-o'-lantern contest. For pumpkins to become jack-o'-lanterns, they must have faces carved into them. The lighted pumpkins referred to in this story are, indeed, carved; but not necessarily with faces.
