Review of Small Garden Tillers

Monday October 25, 2004
Think tilling the soil is only for spring? Think again! If you have your soil tested, you might find that the pH needs to be corrected. If your soil needs lime, fall is the time to spread it on and use a garden tiller to till it under. The benefits of lime are slow to manifest themselves, so don't wait until spring. Using garden tillers to mix the lime into the soil in fall will yield benefits in next year's landscaping. Your soil will also be easier to till in spring, if it has already been tilled in fall. Small mechanical garden tillers, also termed, "cultivators," are preferable to their larger cousins for small plots. Learn more about small garden tillers in this review, which looks at Ryobi garden tillers as an example.
