Should the color of your house dictate your choice of plants in landscape design? That question has been posed recently in the Landscaping Forum, in a thread on landscape design and house color
It's a rather scary question. Why? Because we're often stuck with the color that our house happens to be -- for instance, if you have vinyl siding, which is the case with many houses nowadays. So if the question that I pose is answered in the affirmative, then our landscape design options are immediately narrowed. A sobering thought! Architectural style
, too, often determines the landscape design around a house.
All of which you should consider when buying a house. That is, if landscaping and gardening mean a lot to you, don't just look at the land when buying a house. Make sure you know what landscape-design style you prefer, and pick a house to match! A landscape should complement the house it surrounds.
