Steve Jones makes a good point in this Plant Man column: very few homeowners who enjoy gardens and wildlife are in favor of the blind, indiscriminate, knee-jerk use of pesticides. On the other hand, all but the most idealistic will admit that some intervention is required when pests begin to run amuck on the landscape.
