As About's Guide to First Aid, Rod Brouhard observes in his article on Christmas tree safety, "Burning Christmas tree clippings in a fireplace may result in a chimney fire; pine and fir trees produce a lot of creosote when burning and may lead to deposits on the chimney." I suggest some disposal alternatives that are safer and more environmentally-sound in my own resource for recycling information, including one alternative that doesn't entail disposal at all!
