First Black Hyacinths

Marie Iannotti reports that the 2007 Thompson & Morgan catalog has introduced to the plant-loving public the first black hyacinths, known as ‘Midnight Mystic.’ "Some gardeners love dark flowers and foliage for their own unique appeal. I like them for the contrast they provide, making other colors even more vivid. And contrast is often missing in a display of spring blooming bulbs, so this new introduction should cause quite a stir," scribes About's Gardening Guide.
