History of the Christmas Tree

Planting live (not cut) Christmas trees in the yard and decorating them is a great way to enjoy landscaping and holiday celebrations simultaneously. But many people are unaware of the history of the Christmas tree, and how controversial it was in ancient times to celebrate the holidays by decorating with Christmas trees and other evergreens. Knowing something about the history of the Christmas tree may increase your appreciation of this enduring tradition.

evey year my pair trees leaves get black spots on them an alot of leaves fall off after blooming, do you know what i can do/?

Odd question to be attached to a post on the history of the Christmas tree, but I’ll give it a shot….

Take a look at the picture on this site, which discusses Fabraea leaf spot disease:

Of course, there are other possibilities. To be sure, I’d take a leaf sample to the local county extension — someone there could give you a positive ID on the problem.
