I rather doubt, though, that Mr. Emerson would have had any inclination for weed-pulling, even if he had been able to browse through my weed pictures to identify a particular weed and found it thoroughly wanting in "virtue." But there's no doubt that discovering a weed's overlooked virtues could certainly save you considerable work: Your discovery would minimize the need for weed control, which is tedious and time-consuming.

But before you can make an intelligent decision as to whether to pull a weed or leave it alone, you have to arm yourself with some facts, beginning with the identity of the weed in question.
