Edible Landscaping -- Pansies and Other Flowers

When garden centers set out pansies for sale, you know that spring has finally arrived. Perhaps you have already bought and planted your pansies this spring and are enjoying the color that their "flower faces" bring to your landscaping. But Marie Iannotti, About's Gardening Guide, tells us that, in addition to their good looks, pansy flowers are edible and make an excellent garnish! But if you're squeamish, I'd suggest turning the petals upside down on your plates; some folks may find it awkward to "look them in the face" before ingesting them. Are Pansies annuals or Perennials…….I have planted them for several summers, and each year I have them popping up in the spring in the opposite end of the planter

Depends on where you live. In more northerly climes, they are treated basically as annuals.
