Pictures of Walkways

"Getting there is half the fun." Should this motto apply to the walkways in your landscaping? Well, it depends.

If you'll be strolling a walkway to view a garden area or your collection of trees and shrubs, then I'd answer that question in the affirmative: A winding walkway would be suitable here, a path that encourages you to slow down and drink in the scenery.

But straight lines make sense for walkways whose purpose is essentially utilitarian. For instance, you may not want to have to walk a winding path when carrying groceries in from the car to the house; rather, in such cases, you want a no-nonsense walkway.

Use my pictures of walkways to decide on materials to use to build a path for your own yard. My pictures of walkways show examples of a variety of materials used for paths, as well as a variety of design ideas.

Stamped concrete is also a great option. There’s a stamp that can make it look like one huge slab of stone — awesome look! and less expensive than actual stone. This is a great option if your budget is limited and you’ve got a lot of ground to cover.
