How Best to Use Leaf Blowers
Have you ever known people so in love with gadgets that they'll stubbornly refuse to help a project along with a little supplemental manual labor -- even if it means making the project more lengthy and more difficult? It's almost as if it were a matter of principle for them: gadgets represent a triumph of technology, and reverting to manual labor (even momentarily) would be a slap in the face for technological progress. Never mind the fact that the whole idea behind using gadgetry is supposed to be to make life easier....
What does all that have to do with leaf blowers? Just this: while leaf blowers have their place, there's a smart way to use leaf blowers, and then there's a stubborn way to use leaf blowers. In this article, I argue, among other things, that the smart way to use leaf blowers is to use them selectively. Don't throw out that leaf rake: if you wish to perform the task of leaf removal as efficiently as possible, the "old-fashioned" leaf rake should still occupy a place in your arsenal.
