How Best to Use Leaf Blowers

Have you ever known people so in love with gadgets that they'll stubbornly refuse to help a project along with a little supplemental manual labor -- even if it means making the project more lengthy and more difficult? It's almost as if it were a matter of principle for them: gadgets represent a triumph of technology, and reverting to manual labor (even momentarily) would be a slap in the face for technological progress. Never mind the fact that the whole idea behind using gadgetry is supposed to be to make life easier....

In this article, I argue, among other things, that the smart way to use leaf blowers is to use them selectively. Don't throw out that leaf rake: if you wish to perform the task of leaf removal as efficiently as possible, the "old-fashioned" leaf rake should still occupy a place in your arsenal.
