Fall Color and Autumn Leaf Guide

Thursday October 9, 2008

"I've developed this quick leaf-viewing referencesugar maple tree picture that includes some basic foliage science and leaf viewing tips. You will find enough information here to enhance your next autumn leaf viewing trip," writes About's Forestry Guide, Steve Nix. Use Steve's "Fall Color and Autumn Leaf Guide" as your starting point for getting the most out of the leaf-peeping season.

You may decide that some of the beautiful trees that you'll see on your autumn drives this year are must-haves for your own yard. You may also get some ideas on how best to deploy your fall foliage specimens. For instance, I've admired some examples I've seen of tree-lined driveways; they look good year-round, but imagine a driveway lined with maple trees in fall!

Since leaf-peeping season coincides with the Halloween decorating season, don't forget to snap some Halloween pictures in your travels when you encounter novel decorating schemes. Your photos will provide a good starting point for decorating your own yard when you return home.
