Outdoor Christmas Decorations

Monday November 17, 2008
Soon, many people will be displaying their outdoor Christmas decorations again.xmas I can't say that I'm looking forward to it. I'm too busy missing the Halloween season, which I enjoy much more than the holiday season. Maybe it's because the weather's a lot nicer around Halloween than it is a month later, when folks get serious about putting up their outdoor Christmas decorations. Or maybe it's the fact that Mother Nature helps out so much with the "background display" at Halloween time, flashing all those colorful autumn leaves at us. Sure, snow is sometimes provided as a backdrop for the outdoor Christmas decorations, but snow is pretty only in the country: in the cities and suburbs, it gets too dirty to offer much aesthetic value.

No, for me, winter is definitely the Scrooge of the seasons when it comes to visual enjoyment of the outdoors. But perhaps that's all the more reason to show some appreciation for the cheer that outdoor Christmas decorations bring. You can supplement manufactured outdoor Christmas decorations with plants -- or, in fact, substitute plants for them altogether -- and it is precisely with natural outdoor Christmas decorations that I begin this article.

This selection doesn’t show you how to make any of the decorations.
