Deck Pictures

Decks have become important components in outdoor living, and your deck design options are virtually limitless. But consumers may have a limited conception of what those options are. The deck pictures in this resource are a good place for novices to begin acquainting themselves with the world of possibilities out there.

The deck pictures come courtesy of deck expert, Lawrence Winterburn, who discussed a number of deck designs in an interview I conducted with him last year, including so-called "architectural deck designs." What are those, perhaps you ask? Here's how Lawrence explained it:

"Architectural deck designs are those more elaborate in detail. Experimental construction methods make the project appear more simple, or to shield the actual structure from view. Layered trellis work or laminated parts incorporate harder and stronger materials, but make it look like a simple slab of wood. Things are not always as they seem. Many of these projects are expensive and complex to orchestrate. Most have drip edges, flashings or roofing built into the details."
