Bushes (shrubs) are the workhorses in a landscape. While tall trees provide a necessary "backbone" for your yard, they don't offer the flexibility that bushes do. Meanwhile, shorter plants might not be capable of making the visual impact you desire from a distance.
Enter bushes, those versatile plants of an intermediate size. They often seem to be "just right" for injecting color into a designated area -- not too big, but not too small, either. Thus for many of us, a particular bush becomes a favorite plant in the landscape.
