July Yard To-Do List

What landscaping tasks should you be performing in July? Well, that depends on where you live. That's the beauty of this yard to-do list for July, based on region. Consult these July tips to see what you can be doing to ensure that your yard continues to look its best, whether you live in a northerly or southerly clime.

Two of the tasks on Marie Iannotti's yard to-do list are:

  1. Stay ahead of weeds
  2. Check garden centers for mark downs on remaining plants

Learning the different types of weed plants will help you fight them, as not all weeds should be attacked in the same way. Meanwhile, those landscaping on a budget are well advised to go bargain hunting for cheap flowers in July. In time, they won't look cheap at all -- with a little TLC.

DAVID—SHOULD YOU WATER A FESCUE/BERMUDA LAWN, 30 MINUTES EVERY DAY OR ONE HOUR EVERY OTHER DAY? TEMPERATURE IS IN THE 90′S.

Gary,

This may be just a personal preference, but I’d opt for the every-other-day regimen. I’d be afraid that, when applying less water every day, not enough of it would get down to the root system (there’s a lot of evaporation with superficial watering).
