November Yard To-Do List

By , About.com GuideNovember 9, 2010

Follow me on:

If April is the month when the landscape reawakens in a cold clime like mine (New England, U.S.), then November is the month it begins its slumber. The garden won't be doing much more without the aid of structures such as cold frames, and landscape color starts to fade fast once the leaves have dropped off the maple trees.

"November is when any similarity between gardening zonesautumn ceases to be," says Marie Iannotti. "Some of you are just moving into your temperate, gentle garden season and others will have almost no garden to speak of for several months to come." I, myself fall into the latter camp -- no doubt about it.

But as Marie points out in this yard to-do list for November, even those with "no garden to speak of" right now still have some chores to do. I know it doesn't seem fair, but it's true! No surprise that raking leaves is on the list.
