Murphy didn't exempt gardeners and their activities from his infamous "law." Do you ever encounter examples of Murphy's Law when you're out in the yard, working? I'm talking about instances where you say to yourself, for example, "Yeah, it seems like this inevitably happens when I do that." Well, share those examples of Murphy's Law with us! Let's have some fun at ol' Murphy's expense.
One of my own favorite examples regards peonies. Anyone who has raised these lovelies is familiar with this, one of their few drawbacks: Their flowers are so large, with such deep recesses between the petals, that, after a rain, the flower stems tend to snap under the weight of the retained water. Inevitably, thanks to Mr. Murphy, it seems that my garden receives a lot of rain just when my peony display is at its peak -- or would be, if not for all those snapped stems!
