Spice Up Your Yard With Variegated Plants

Variegated plants are dedicated to the proposition that variety is the spice of life -- but not just any "variety." Specifically, variegated plants give us variety with efficiency, affording two or even three foliar colors on just one specimen. I offer examples in my photo gallery of variegated plants.

Variegated leaves typically bear one color on the inside and a second color around the edge of the foliage. But there are numerous variations. Some display their second color at their tips, rather than around the edges, while still others are more of a wild mish-mash of colors. Some variegated plants offer colorful blooms and/or berries as a bonus. And my favorite variegated plants go above and beyond the call of duty, featuring not two but three different colors on their leaves!
