In my July poll, you selected hydrangea shrubs as your favorite plant for that month.
Now it's August, the last fully summertime month. My yard in August doesn't boast quite the bounty that characterizes the spring and early-summer months, but I'm nominating several plants (some of which had already peaked in the second half of July) that I'm sure will attract at least a modicum of support from voters.
Which plant from my list will you place on top of the heap this month? Will it be a shrub in the Hibiscus genus, one of the new, mildew-resistant cultivars of phlox, or some other plant?
Did I fail to nominate a plant you feel merits inclusion? Select "Other" and visit my forum to become a proponent for your personal favorite.
Here are my top choices for August:
- Russian sage
- Coreopsis
- Oleander
- Lavender
- Stonecrop
- Rose of sharon
- Spirea
- Hardy hibiscus
- Shasta Daisies
- Black-eyed susan
- 'Nora Leigh' phlox
