Do Peonies Grow on Trees?

Money doesn't grow on trees. picture of tree peonyI'm sure of it. As if my parents' assurances in this regard while I was growing up weren't enough, I've encountered plenty of evidence to that effect in my adult life. Heck, if money did grow on trees, there'd be a lot more tree farms around, right?

But what's up with so-called "tree peonies"? Are they really peonies that grow on trees? Or are they just like the regular peonies? The answer is no on both counts. I explain in my article on tree peonies.

Oh, speaking of money and tree peonies, the latter are expensive plants to buy, compared to the herbaceous peonies with which you may be more familiar. That's because they're grafted, which is a rather labor-intensive operation.
