People tend to either hate lily-of-the-valley or love it. My friend, Scott Harris, blogger extraordinaire, falls into the former camp. If you haven't already, you should check out Scotty's work over at Our Vintage Garden.
If you're a Seinfeld fan (as I am), you may remember that the corpulent mailman, Newman, regards broccoli as a "vile weed." I'm loath to compare myself in any way with such a suspect character as Newman, whom Seinfeld once called "pure evil." Nonetheless, I must say that I agree with Newman on this one point. A broccoli lover I am not.
Anyhow, Scotty grabs that "vile weed" reference and adroitly applies it to something else altogether: lily-of-the-valley. As always Scotty's take is quite amusing. Between my article on lily-of-the-valley and his, you should derive a pretty good idea of the pros and cons of this fragrant ground cover.
