I concentrate on calendar mileposts to help me beat the winter blues. So I see Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day as 3 stepping stones along the path to spring. We've already left 2 of them in the dust; and St. Patrick's Day 2013 looms on the horizon, less than three weeks away. For those of you who have started your drinking early and wonder, "When is St. Patrick's Day 2013," be advised that the holiday of four-leaf clovers always falls on March 17. Some people think about how much green they can work into their wardrobe for Saint Patrick's Day. I think about saving money -- the "green stuff" in my wallet. I'm a confirmed cheapskate, what can I say?

Saving money in your landscaping doesn't mean settling for a shabby yard. In this article on budget landscaping, I provide tips on saving money while still creating an attractive landscape. Planning ahead, researching before buying, and developing an eye for the "cheap way out" are all good initial steps to take for saving money while landscaping your yard.

Frugal gardener, Marie Iannotti discusses "ways to recycle otherwise worthless objects in the garden" and other ways to save money in this article on saving money gardening. But don't think this is just one of those articles on recycling and eking out a few extra bucks for spending money. About.com's Gardening Guide may give you some ideas on how to use "found objects" that will become mainstays in your landscaping.
