Dogwoods as Fall Foliage Trees

Planning before planting is the hallmark of good landscape design. Although it's still too warm outside to be planting any new trees or shrubs just yet, we need to be looking ahead to the fall planting season. A landscape design lit up with the colors of wonderful fall foliage trees doesn't happen overnight. Rather, it's indicative of a strong commitment to the future. This first in a series of articles on fall foliage trees introduces the dogwood. Dogwood trees are best known for the flowering displays that they put on in spring. But don't let that lead you to underestimate them as fall foliage trees.
