Natural Landscapes
Tuesday December 7, 2004
The poet, Alexander Pope made a famous statement in the 18th century that was to have a great impact on subsequent landscape design in the West. Regarding landscape design, he wrote, "Consult the genius of the place in all," putting him squarely in the camp that praises so-called "natural landscapes". But as this article demonstrates, "natural landscapes" is open to interpretation. It's not just homes out in the woods or sitting on the open prairie that can boast of "natural landscapes."
