Time for Planting Spring Bulb Plants in Zones 4-5
Sunday October 9, 2005
It's the height of the fall foliage season now, and I don't mean to distract your attention away from admiring autumn's bounty. That's what you should be doing! But permit me to slip in one reminder: if you live in zones 4-5, it's time for planting spring bulb plants now. You have to plant them now if you want to enjoy their displays in spring. But once you get your bulbs planted, go back to enjoying the fall foliage, while it lasts. Old Man Winter has already issued his orders to the North Wind: the latter must soon rattle the leaves with his blustery gusts, shaking them to the ground.
