Intersectional Peonies

Tuesday February 27, 2007
No, intersectional peonies are not peonies grown at street intersections to spruce up the neighborhood! Rather, intersectional peonies, writes horticulturist, Tim Kornder, "are the result of crossing two different species of peony. Our intersectionals are the result of crossing tree peony (lutea species- it’s kind of like a woody shrub) with herbaceous peonies (lactiflora- like the ones grandma grew). The resulting plants combine the best qualities of their parents." Find out where to grow intersectional peonies in your landscape design, and how to care for them, from an expert in the field.
