Tulip Trees

Although "tulip trees" are so called from the appearance of their flowers, it is their leaves that I find to be of greatest interest. Tulip trees (also nicknamed, "yellow poplars") offer a fall foliage that ranges from yellow to gold. But the unique leaf-shape is easily recognized throughout the growing season: the concavity at the tips of the leaves (or where one would expect a typical tip) suggests that someone came along and took a bite out of them!
