Fall is the Season for Yellow Jacket Stings

Monday September 17, 2007

So you and the kids head over to the garden, shovel in one hand, a can of soda in the other. As you roll up your sleeves to begin working, you open your soda cans, take a sip, then place them down on a boulder or outdoor workbench, within reach when you wish to quench your thirst. An idyllic scene, isn't it? At least until you or the kids learn, the hard way, that fall is the season for yellow jacket stings! "Don't drink from a straw or can that you cannot see inside of, this is a favorite place for yellow jackets to hide," advises this article on the About.com Pediatrics site. As you can well imagine, yellow jacket stings to the throat can be very serious, as the resulting swelling can cut off your air supply. Read the full article to learn about yellow jacket stings and stinging insect allergies.
