Recycling Tip: How to Compost Old Coffee Grounds

Tuesday March 11, 2008
What I love about this article from Green-Talk.com on how to compost old coffee grounds is the way it captures a process that is played out again and again, wherever there are inquiring minds. Call it the saga of the landscaper seeking answers to soil fertility. All of us can relate to this story. First, we hear that something (old coffee grounds, in this case) can be used to improve our soil. Then we learn, to our disappointment, that it may have a drawback (in this case, acidity). From this point on, the gist of our saga is that we turn to the experts to try to refine our knowledge on the subject. Expert A provides answers which, while helpful, lead, in turn, to other questions -- to be answered, in part, by expert B. And so on, until we get it right (or as "right" as we can be without being omniscient, at least...).
