On Valentine's Day, some readers might identify sycamore trees with Mama Cass belting out the lyrics, "Birds singing in the sycamore tree." But Steve Nix has a different sort of identification in mind when he writes that sycamore trees are "readily identifiable with broad, maplelike leaves and a trunk and limb complexion of mixed green, tan and cream." About's Forestry Guide goes on to comment that, to some (myself included), the bark of sycamore trees looks ever so much "like camouflage."
