Japanese painted ferns (Athyrium niponicum 'Pictum') are shade plants that have silver foliage punctuated with a purplish color.
Unhappily, I'll have to add these beauties to my list of plants susceptible to rabbit damage. I've had some bunnies lately treating my landscaping as a salad bar, and one item they've been heaping on their plates is Japanese painted fern.
