I spaced my small hedge shrubs 12 inches on center, because I'm in a hurry for results (and I'm committed to performing the necessary maintenance). But the general rule for spacing small hedge shrubs is to install them 12-18 inches apart (for most people planting such a Korean boxwood hedge, I'd recommend the 18-inch spacing). If you're planting them as specimens, instead of as hedge shrubs, you give them much more room, spacing them 4 feet apart.
