Question: What's the Herbicide That Functions as a Crabgrass Preventer?
Reader, Sue asks, "What do we get for crabgrass (the crabgrass preventer whose name I can't ever remember)?"
Answer:

Crabgrass preventers are products that contain preemergent herbicides. The idea behind crabgrass preventers is to stop crabgrass (or "crab grass") before its seeds even have a chance to germinate. The crabgrass preventers typically use an active ingredient such as dithiopyr or siduron. These preemergent herbicides are sold under names such as Dimension and Tupersan.

But which crabgrass preventer should you use? And when do you apply it? I discuss these matters in my full article on crabgrass killers.
