Question: Our Bradford Pear Lost Limbs From Snow and Ice Damage. What Should We Do?
"Our 10 yr. old Bradford pear tree lost many limbs due to snow and ice covering the newly formed blossoms this weekend. One side is completely gone. Is there anyway to repair it?"
Answer:

In a word, no. Part of the beauty of Bradford pear trees is their shape, and once that is lost from breakage incurred on limbs, their aesthetic value declines (they’ll always look “uneven”). If you'd like to regain the same look, I recommend removing the Bradford pear tree and switching to Chanticleer pear trees. Chanticleer pears are considered an improvement on the Bradfords, bearing limbs that are less likely to suffer damage due to snow and ice (or, for that matter, wind).
